Ranjana Thami

Ranjana and her mother

College Student|Grade 12|Charikot, Dolakha

“When memories of father surface, my mom holds me and cries. Our family migrated from the village to Charikot, Dolakha for a better life and opportunities. My mother did little farming and my father did the labor work. He fell from the cliff during work. We found his body only after 3 days.  After my father passed away, there have been lots of troubles and problems at home. There was a financial problem on one side and on another side, we did not see any hope in life. I do not have any good memories of my childhood. All I remember are pain, sorrow, and struggles. I had to take care of my younger brother and all the house chores. My mother wakes up at 4 am, goes to labor work, does the cleaning work in a restaurant, and comes home late at night. She did not get time to heal, she did not get time to rest well, she did not get time to tell that, she was tired!

People say “Time heals the pain” but it only numbs it. When memories of father surface, my mom holds me and cries. “

Ranjana is studying in grade 12. Ranjana is a very talented, active, and hard-working student. She goes to college at early 6 and returns home at 10 am for lunch. Ranjana’s mother is working in a small restaurant as a cleaner. Ranjana said, “She feels low and incapable to do anything when her mother is doing such work”. She wants to give her a better life for her mother.
