Needy Students | Grade 8 | SCH
“I am studying well now utilizing the precious opportunity properly. I think education is the only way to be free from the hurdle and hardships of life in the village.” –Lakpa Geli Sherpa
Lakpa Geli Sherpa is 16 years old. Currently, he lives in SCH but he is originally from Dolakha, Nepal. There are five members in his family. His parents are Yak herder. Lakpa Geli has one elder brother and a sister. They both are students too. They both live in the village with their parents.
His family is farmers. They have got a Yak and goat farm in the Himalayan region of Nepal. They also work in the field to make living for the family. As a child of the Himalayas, they have to care for rare domesticated animals. They have to go to the forest at least two times a day for collecting firewood and fodder for their home and animals. Cutting grass, collecting firewood and dry leaves, carrying them on back home, and feeding Yaks, cows, and goats, is the routine of Lakpa Geli’s family members.
Currently Lakpa Geli studies in grade 8. He stays in SCH under the scholarship project of ICEF-Taiwan. Lakpa Geli is an honest and hardworking boy. He is very happy to be in SCH. He is simple and friendly to his friends. Education is still not prioritized in many poor families. So, if he became an educated person he would like to give free education to the children like him in the future.
Thank you.
