“I want to meet father but I don’t want to live him. Maybe later in the future, I will live with my father and care for him. But for now, I want to live here with an aunt.”-Phurnima Sherpa
Phurnima Sherpa lived in a small village called Chhahare, located in the remote hills of Jiri, Nepal. Despite the beautiful surroundings, Phurnima’s life was far from perfect. When he was just a young boy, his elder sister eloped with a man and disappeared from their lives. The news of her disappearance broke his mother’s heart and she eventually took her own life. Phurnima’s father, unable to cope with the loss of his wife, turned to alcohol and became a hopeless drunkard. His father is living with his elder son.
Phurnima left his home and move in with his aunt, who took him in and raised him as her own. It has been more than 4 years, he’s living with his aunt. Phurnima does works like collecting firewood, and fodder from the forest, fetching water and planting crops. Growing up in this difficult environment, Phurnima faced many challenges and hardships. However, he never lost hope and always dreamt of a better life for himself. Despite the odds against him, Phurnima was a determined and hardworking young man. He never lost his positive outlook on life. He remained kind and compassionate, always helping those in need and inspiring those around him with his unwavering spirit.
“Here in the village, life is very difficult and I feel misery here. Maybe I will find a better life in another place. I keep missing my late mother here. I want to meet my father but I don’t want to live with them now. Maybe later in the future, I will live with my father and care for him. But For now, I want to live here with an aunt”, said Phurnima.
